Evaluation training – it’s back by popular demand!
As a community led organisation, we always take on feedback from the groups that we work alongside, and this includes the content of the training courses that we facilitate.
Last year we delivered a hugely success Evaluation course and, after the positive response by those who attended, the session is now back again!
Led by Professor Alex Nunn from the University of Derby - Professor of Global Political Economy and Director of the Social, Cultural and Legal Research Centre – the course looks at how evaluation helps you assess how far you are meeting your objectives and how it provides evidence of the benefits you provide, which are key to securing funding for further development.
It can enrich the stories you bring to your marketing and evaluating what you do helps with your planning process, to fix problems and adapt where necessary to ensure your activities are as effective as possible. Good quality evaluation can help motivate you and your supporters towards further success.
You’ll come to the online Q&A session armed with knowledge after completing a series of self-directed sessions prior to the event, which includes 12 presentations split into bite-size sections of around 20 minutes each to allow you to fit them in around other commitments. A short questionnaire will also need to be completed ahead of the Q&A.
The Q&A will then be followed by a personalised smaller group session to address more specific issues raised in the discussions and allow you to discuss with others experiencing similar concerns.
Please also have a look at the Eventbrite page to see the full outline of each part of the course to make sure you can commit to all the separate elements.
So, what did attendees from the previous course have to say? Here is just some of the amazing feedback we received!
“I loved the videos, the feedback session and especially the small group meeting. All very informative and extremely helpful. Thank you very much!”
“The training gave me clarity about what we're already doing as well as what we need to do and why. I liked the mix of spoken word and written slides as well as interactive video meeting in large then small groups - worked well. Thank you.”
“I thought the content was excellent and in-depth for a free training event. Everything about the contact, the meetings and the presentations were well done and of a very high standard. Thank you for offering me a place.”
“In this environment it’s difficult but having been to the evaluation training it’s given me a little more confidence to go for grants and realise that collecting data and evidence IS achievable.”
“Really enjoyed the training. Elements of the theory side helped us with wording in our funding bids – it’s always worth knowing the correct terminology! We’ve used some of the information Alex gave us to develop our most recent questionnaire which had a very good response.”
“Before the evaluation training I didn’t really see how getting feedback and evidence was necessary, however since then I’ve had 3 successful bids!”
“The other noticeable change is how my volunteers have now embraced the need to gather evidence and feedback, they’ve recognised the difference it’s making.”
To be eligible to book a FREE place on this training, you must work at or volunteer for a Derbyshire-based not for profit community organisation that helps people in Chesterfield and the immediate surrounding areas or be a student or staff member at the University of Derby with a connection to Chesterfield.
