Virtual event aiming to ‘inspire healthy futures’
Leading figures in health and social care from across Chesterfield are set to take part in a live virtual panel discussion to focus on the health and wellbeing of the local community.
‘Inspiring Healthy Futures’, which will take place on 25 June, will see the panel come together to look at the big picture of health in Chesterfield.
The panel is made up of Denise Baker, Head of School Allied Health and Social Care at University of Derby; Jacqui Willis, Chief Executive of Derbyshire Voluntary Action (DVA); Linda Garnett, Workforce and OD Lead for Joined Up Care Derbyshire and Emily Williams, Skills Delivery Officer for Chesterfield Borough Council.
The free event, which will be introduced by Toby Perkins MP, will also discuss the barriers and strengths within the sector and their thoughts on what individuals can do to help through careers and community action.
Inspiring Healthy Futures is part of Careers that Care. The weeklong series of virtual events, which takes places between 21-25 June, will see a range of activities take place aimed at showcasing the diversity of careers in health and social care.
Careers that Care is run in partnership by Derbyshire Voluntary Action’s Community Chesterfield project, University of Derby and Joined Up Careers Derbyshire – funded by DANCOP.
Charlotte Repton, project manager at Community Chesterfield, said: “With the health and wellbeing of our communities at the forefront of everyone’s minds, this event will provide an excellent forum to discuss this topic on a broad scale and get an insight into the thoughts of local experts in the field.
“This could include topics such as the challenges faced by the sector in terms of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, how community action can strengthen the health and wellbeing of our community, as well as advice for those considering a career in health and social care.”
Denise Baker, Head of School Allied Health and Social Care at University of Derby and one of the panellists at the event, said: “Being employed in health or social care allows individuals to make a positive difference to peoples’ lives. We all have an interest in this topic, especially now, and I am delighted to be taking part in this event and explore career options in this sector.”
Inspiring Healthy Futures is open to anyone from Chesterfield and surrounding areas with an interest in health and social care or the health of our communities.
