Student placement support for voluntary and community sector groups

If you’re looking to host a student placement within your community group, then we can help. Students are able to commence placements at various times throughout the year, including over the summer period, and work for a minimum of four weeks.

Students will be able to assist with service care and delivery where appropriate. They may also take on a specific project that you’ve always wanted to deliver but never found the opportunity – meaning their potential impact can be great.

Students need to work alongside your team members to understand the service. They will also be keen to link their work to the requirements of their programme of study. Communication skills, care delivery, understanding disabilities and community provision will all be useful to them.

By hosting a student placement, you are:

  • Increasing your delivery capacity by adding another member to your team.

  • Contributing to strengthening the future voluntary sector workforce.

  • Upskilling your own staff by improving management and mentoring capabilities.

  • Getting fresh perspectives by engaging with someone from a different age or background.

  • Promoting your work and increasing the reach of your organisation.

Our student was extremely committed and enthusiastic...it meant that we could take on a project we’ve been wanting to do for a very long time.
