Out in the community – our visit to United Cast Bar
We were delighted recently to experience an inspirational tour of the United Cast Bar in Chesterfield, discussing everything from science and languages to innovation and safety.
United Cast Bar is a cast iron specialist and the home of Unibar continuously cast iron, produced in two of Europe's most prestigious foundries and distributed through the United Cast Bar distribution network.
The company has developed partnerships with a number of local schools and regularly invites local children to the foundry in Chesterfield to provide an opportunity for them to gain an insight into a career in this area.
This has led to the company introducing an apprenticeship programme, allowing them to develop the talents of local young people and create a skilled future workforce within the sector.
During our tour, we met David Beet, United Cast Bar’s relationship manager, and James Brand, the group’s chief executive, who allowed us to have a look round the bustling Chesterfield foundry, whilst discussing their work with the local schools and community.
It is clearly a business cares about its employees, the local community and raising the aspirations of local young people – something we see as hugely beneficial to Chesterfield as a whole.
